Compu-Consults are a series of medical software programs developed by respected clinician-scientists from around the world with special expertise in rapidly emerging areas of internal medicine. The principle objective of these programs is to provide computer based assistance to those physicians in private practice who are seeing an increasing number of patients with new and challenging medical problems. Being completely independent of the pharmaceutical industry, each author has developed a program that is written generically, avoids the endorsement of specific products by trade name and is created in a physician to physician consultative format. It should be stressed that these programs are not designed to serve as artificial intelligence nor to dictate medical care but rather to assist physicians in the investigation, management and follow-up of challenging patients in a more informed, effective and efficient manner.
